Homework is an important extension of activities begun in school by students under the guidance of their teachers and continued at home. Working together, home and school can guide students as they develop their learning capacities by making possible experiences which foster learning. Homework provides for practice of skills and application of principles based upon work begun in the classroom. It may enrich school experiences and promote a permanent interest in learning. A secondary goal of homework is to stimulate individual initiative, personal responsibility and self-direction.
Missing Homework results in "Homework Club" during recess Students must fill out a missing homework sheet that is signed by the parent and submitted with the missing work. Students are given the opportunity to turn in their work for the following credit: On time - Full credit 1 Day Late = Half Credit 2 or more days late = No credit Possible extensions will be given on a case-to-case basis. Homework should always be neat, complete, written on lined paper, and have the proper heading at the top, right hand corner.
Absences
Homework for Excused Absences Students who are absent should arrange to keep up with homework. After a one day absence, students will be expected to go to my website for their missed workor e-mail me to find out the evening’s assignments. Students should know the names and telephone numbers of at least two other students in order to call them. Parents should be prepared to pick up books and papers if needed. When a student misses work during an absence, he or she will be given the same amount of days to make up all missed work as you were absent. For example, if a student is absent for 3 days, he or she will have 3 days, counting weekends, to make up the missed assignments.
